‘Twas the weekend of Christmas decorating for all through the house
From inside and outside, without any spouse
The boxes were carried from here to there
I lost count of the trips, I did not care.
******
The room soon exploded with paper and such
Made me wonder when we got so darn much
Soon my head was adorned with my Ho-Ho-Ho cap
I settled into the decoration trap.
******
Christmas carols floated throughout the room
I swore the fake tree seemed actually to bloom
Inside and out I flew like a flash
Tore open the boxes and threw up the stash
******
All of the pictures of Christmas days past
Gave this baby boomer the locations at last
When, what to my wandering brain should appear
But a beautiful vision of Christmas and cheer
******
With a ladder and curses, so heartfelt and loud
The outside lights sparkled and made me so proud
Soon I forgot the curses and all of the strain
As I shouted to Mom, “Look through the window pane.”
******
I sprang to the switch, and prayed it would not fizzle
Hoping we’d see all that lovely Christmas light sizzle
Christmas joy was soon ours, what a beautiful sight
Merry Christmas to all, may traditions burn bright.

Very nice. I’m still smiling! And I think I’m officially in the Christmas spirit. Or at least now I’m giving it some thought 🙂
Hi Ramiro: Glad I could get you into the Christmas spirit-or even almost. 🙂 The pain of decorating almost chased it away, but when you’re done, you seem to forget all that pain. 🙂
Merry Christmas, Ramiro, and a very blessed New Year!
Chuckling… I don’t start Christmas until after the 7th – my twin’s birthday… and maybe not until the 15th or so – but it’s fun hearing/seeing how you’re having fun.
Tell your mom hi.
It was early for us this year, too, Anne. We have family coming so I wanted to get it out of the way. I still have to do my office. I didn’t expect to spend so much time on the outside, cursed decorations. 🙂
I will share your greetings with Mom. Thanks, my friend. Merry Christmas and even greater success in 2012 – however you define that. 🙂
Lol! This is adorable and hilarious Cathy. Love it!
Glad you enjoyed it, Brandi. It soothes my aching body that I crippled in the effort. 🙂
Oh I hope not too hurt in the process!
Nothing outside the normal boomer body aches & pains. 🙂
P.S. It does crack me up that I was less achy after walking 60 miles over 3 days. 🙂
Really?! That’s pretty amazing Cathy.
