Creative Copy Challenge is Back

by | Jun 6, 2014 | Creative Writing | 2 comments

Laptop and a cup of coffee on a tableI’m doing cartwheels because Creative Copy Challenge is back!

Creative Copy Challenge (or CCC) is a writing prompt site and the brainchild of Shane Arthur, editor extraordinaire. And all-around nice guy.

This blog has CCC sprinklings throughout.

The management of the site that attracts an international audience is a huge undertaking. Shane was a master manager; however, life and work compelled Shane to put CCC to bed for a long winter’s nap.

  • But CCC is back
  • Did I tell you that?
  • Can you tell I’m happy?

Creative Copy Challenge Basics

CCC is a word prompt site designed to stimulate the creative juices.

  • There is a list of 10 random words or phrases
  • The challenge is creating a cohesive, creative short story using the words/phrases
  • CCC welcomes professional and non-professional writers alike

Anne Maybus, a writer from Australia and a CCC contributor, came to the rescue and breathed life back into Creative Copy Challenge by taking on the administrator role. The CCC community thanks you, Anne!

Check out this fun place. There is great talent and all are welcomed – professional writer or not.

Creative Copy Challenge #339

This is my first submission since the return of CCC. The words in bold are the challenge words.

The challenge began. Over a landscape littered with weeping souls, Malcolm crept along shadows that saw too much. He wore his familiarity with death like a sheepskin past its prime.

perimeter of hope had taken an unknown turn towards fate, robbing him of the cocky confidence of youth. Malcolm trudged on, barely acknowledging the oozing presence of a swamp of questionable depth and despair.

His actions brought him closer. Closer to destiny. Directing him to all he lost.

“Malcolm Michael Foster, get off that video game right now and do your homework!”

“Aw, Moooom.”
