It’s March 1st – the date I targeted for the rebirth of my personal blog.
Then life happened.
- Mom had knee replacement surgery
- The theme I selected released major bugs
- The easy one I purchased as a replacement was not so easy
Did I mention I also bought a new desktop?
So, here it is my deadline and I’m not ready.
Suffering for my Art
Okay, maybe art is a bit presumptive.
I love the start of a new year, a new month. There is always such hope.
One of my goals for this year was the rebirth of my personal blog, millercathy.com: A Baby Boomer’s Second Life. I was public about my intent. And you know what happens then.
Friends, who shall remain nameless, Linda, started asking –
“Hey, where’s your blog?”
Next, the defensive rhetoric begins.
- I didn’t say when in 2011
- Mom had knee replacement surgery
- The theme I selected released major bugs
- The easy one I purchased as a replacement was not so easy
Who is Going to Remember This?
A favorite saying of one of my brothers (I have four) is–
“100 years from now, is anyone going to remember this?”
Exactly. So, I decided to do this post, use social media to let you know it’s out there, and do my formal roll-out when I have my other planned projects lined up.
Love Yourself
With everything going on, I was totally stressing myself out over a deadline.
This was not a client deadline, which I take very seriously. This was a self-imposed deadline.
- Why are we so hard on ourselves?
- Life is not perfect, so why do we expect perfection?
- Imperfections are so much more interesting.
The Naked Truth
So, here it is in all its naked truth.
- My theme still needs a lot of work
- I will be forced to get better at Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
- Now, you know the naked truth –
I am not perfect.
And that’s okay. I hope you will bear with me. Subscribe to updates through the RSS or email. That way you won’t have to put any self-imposed deadline on checking for updates.
Well done Cathy! Happy March 1st!!
Welcome, Kim!
You have the distinction of being my first commenter after the rebirth of my personal blog. 🙂 Not sure it’s worth much (except to me). Thanks for stopping by. Now that I know at least one person is following me, I’ll have to pay attention to this blog now. 😀
Thanks again, Kim, and happy March 1st to you, too. March? Seriously?
P.S. Just found a problem – my Gravatar (my picture) is not working with the new theme. *Sigh* off to fix it.
Well what you know-it did work, but only after I hit Submit. Yay-little victories. 🙂
Fantastic! Awesome! It looks great and had you not mentioned your woes, I’d have never known. Keep it going ..Your writing is wonderful and we’re reading 🙂
I miss you
Hey Aaron-Great to hear from you! Thanks for the kudos. I miss you, too. Thanks for stopping by. I hope to get some regular blogging going here.
Take care, Dude! 🙂
Boy Kathy! The page looks great. Makes me feel like an under-achiever..but I love it. Keep up the momentum. It helps to keep you young.
Thank you, Beverly. So nice of you to stop by-even if you did spell my name with a “K” instead of a “C.” LOL!!! 😀 How many years have we known each other?
But, I will take most any comment. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Beverly. I hope to see my Pru buddies in the not too distant future.
Hi Cathy,
It does look nice. I hope Mom is doing well. Deadlines do keep us honest.
Your picture looks good too!!
Thanks, Tammy. Yes, that old school work ethic has a hard time ignoring deadlines-self-imposed or otherwise. I appreciate you dropping by and hope all is well with the not-so-new job.
The picture is a professional one-hey, I’m a professional and I pointed it at myself and snap! 😀
Hope to see you around here again soon, Tammy.
Hey!, give me full credit by……………. giving my last name (Barnoid).
Say more about Mumsy……….ginger snaps! She got’em………..yes???
Okay, if you want the world to know you are a nag. 🙂 Check your cell phone voice mail-Mumsy left you a personal thank you on the day she received the ginger snaps.
Note to readers-the secret is out, my mother is addicted to Trader Joe’s ginger snaps. We don’t have a Trader Joe’s in Boise and since I moved from San Diego, I now had to employ a new dealer Thanks, Linda! 🙂
