Blog conceptOkay, U.S. buddies, a little light reading for the Labor Day holiday weekend.

It’s my latest submissions to my favorite writing prompt site, Creative Copy Challenge.

The challenge words are in bold.

Enjoy. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend.

Creative Copy Challenge #350

Her significant loss of feeling went unnoticed as routine took command. Day after day, she plugged into a mindless connection of the mundane. Depression drained the emotion from her face as her heart could no longer educate the palette of her soul.

Her breath would blow from the depths of despair as she reached for the lost passageway of her life. This place strangled the creative and said goodbye to the joy she once knew. When did this happen? How did this happen?

Her memory was an empty cavern of an archaic past, filled with a torrent of broken dreams. A blank stare was her mask concealing the media of all she desired.

She had to break free to survive.

Creative Copy Challenge #351

Blood dripped down the window in a zebra-like pattern. Death’s syncopated slide to the floor danced like rain on the African Queen‘s riveted sheet iron. It was as if the house was bleeding from too many tragedies.

The stellar remnants of the evening sky wept for Billy and his pregnant wife as the rapid loss of blood sealed their fate. And the fate of their unborn child.

The scene was enough to convert any man into a trembling mass of repulsion. But not Detective Brett Connors. Murder made him angry. The death of a child was a bitter swig to an already heinous brew.

The vertical line dissecting his brow deepened with resolve as the image burned another hole in his soul.

“Tell me what you found so far.”
