Glowing Flights of Fancy through Creative Copy Challenge

Blog conceptFrom diminished glow to fantasy, word prompt site, Creative Copy Challenge, exposes the kaleidoscope of emotion.

Either that or the strange inner workings of my mind. Always a scary adventure.

Here are the latest submissions. I hope you enjoy them and why don’t you join us over at CCC? You never know where it will lead – in more ways than one.

The challenge words are in bold.

Creative Copy Challenge #385

A diminished halo glow masked a troubled soul. Living had become a luxury rising above the subterranean stockpile of emotions. Marion felt edgy as she tried to wrestle with the idea of another night sleeping next to him. God’s gift only in his eyes as their life had become an appointment of no return.

Creative Copy Challenge #386

Jonathan hated this vacation. Instead of defending the world from evil through the portal of his tree fort, he was forced to listen to his baby sister whine. All because her stupid doll fell into the sand along the ocean’s shore.

Okay, so maybe the ocean was pretty cool but how would he get the message about the evil forces closing in on his fort? Who would protect his fortress?

“Jonathan, come over here so I can put some more sunscreen on you.”

“Mooom, you already did that.” Avoiding her knowing look, Jonathan turned his back and rolled his eyes.

“That was before you began to sweat from the sun. You need more. And stop rolling your eyes at me.”

How did they do that? How did moms see your face when it was on the opposite side of where they were looking? Every. Single. Time.

Enduring his mom’s greasy strokes, Jonathan plotted his strategy. He required little motivation to picture the demise of the villainous Dracor, ruler of Ganapolus. He was a formidable foe but Jonathan was up to the challenge.

Although he had to bid his army farewell to be transported to this boring spot, Jonathan knew he had trained them well.

His Click-A-Brick Army Defenders would be protected by the impenetrable fort walls. Their WolVol electric transformer patrol car hidden for their escape. But they would not run. They would fight. They would rid the world of Dracor and his pathetic army.

The soothing stroke of his mother’s touch had Jonathan closing his eyes to the vivid fantasy housed inside his mind. Oh how he wished he were there when his mighty Defenders would incarcerate Dracor for all eternity.

It wasn’t fair. He was in charge. He trained them. He should feel the winning joy from a battle well-fought.

He felt his body sinking. Sinking into the comforting embrace of his mother’s love. At least his men were not here to see it. His flight into dreams soared, launched by the soft kiss to the cheek of her noble warrior.

Cathy, I’m sending you a poem I wrote from the words out of #386. Funny that you and I chose the same one!

    Nice stuff, per usual. 🙂
